We are a 5 member family, Alvin and Karen Havens, then we have 3 children, the oldest being Mathew, Alecia is in the middle, and Katey is the youngest.  We are a mile east of Greenfield, Iowa and my parents, Norman and Betty Parrott, live a mile down the road and farm with us. 

Alvin is an all-around handy-man and built everything in our house except the concrete exterior.  His latest project is tearing down our old milking parlor (we used to run 50 head in our younger-years) and turning it into a shop.

Karen runs an accounting office in Greenfield, handling over 800 clients, and still tries to find time to help around the farm and go to horse shows.

Mathew is currently working  in the new town office, and has plans of obtaining his accounting degree and becoming a fully certified CPA.

Alecia graduated from college in May 2011, earning her degrees in Equine Science and Industrial Technology.  She is currently back at home, helping run ALL of the family business operations.  She is now married, her husband helps with the farm and horses when he can, and they gave us our first grandkid, Caleb!

Katey is a freshman in college this year, attending Hendrix college in Arkansas.  She is getting degrees in Education and Business.  During her senior year of high school, she was the official photographer of the school yearbook, and busy in the school play.  She also works for Cowboy Calendar at various events as a customer service person and photographer as well. 

My parents are both in their 80's, and still help around the farm.  My dad is limited to what he can do, but Betty still cooks lunch for the farmhands 6 days a week.  Between the two families, we run over 500 acres and 75 head of cows and calves along with whatever is left of the fat calves we are feeding out.
